Stacked (156)

Hello and welcome to Stacked, a weekly (usually) post where I discuss what books I’ve recently bought, borrowed or received. Happy Tuesday, everyone. I know this post is a bit late but I just got back from a brief visit to see my family. I hit a crazy heat wave while I was away, too. I am in SoCal so I usually get hotter weather than where my family but somehow we switched weather patterns this weekend. I was happy to find that it was much cooler in L.A. when I got back. I love summer but I am not the biggest fan… Read more »

Uncovered (150): Madly by Amy Alward

Uncovered (150): Madly by Amy Alward

Who says you can’t judge a book by its cover? While it’s not the only factor in picking up a book, a pretty cover doesn’t hurt. Uncovered is a (semi) weekly post where I show some cover love. Enjoy! Yikes, it’s been quite a while since my last Uncovered post. There have been plenty of beautiful covers in the meantime and I hope to make this a more regular feature again. This past weekend I visited The Ripped Bodice with my friend Alethea. The Ripped Bodice is a romance only bookstore in L.A. and it’s pretty amazing for a romance lover like myself. I… Read more »

Review: Boys of Summer by Jessica Brody

Mike, Grayson and Ian are all looking forward to one last carefree summer before they move on from high school and start the next phase in their lives. Unfortunately a carefree summer isn’t in the cards for any of them, each of them dealing with difficult circumstances as the summer begins. Grayson is hiding the fact that his mother has left the family and that a car accident may have left him unable to take his football scholarship. Mike’s family is struggling to pay the bills so might must take on extra work over the summer, all while dealing with what could be a final break up with his on-again, off-again childhood sweetheart… Read more »

Hello and welcome to Stacked, a weekly (usually) post where I discuss what books I’ve recently bought, borrowed or received. Wow I just realized that I haven’t had a Stacked post in quite a while. Hi, everyone! Sorry I’ve been a bit MIA lately. I’ve had some car troubles recently that have taken up a lot of my time as well as just general life things. Good news is I think it’s starting to quiet down now and I’ll have a bit more time to read and blog. I haven’t had as much time to read as usual, which has been a bummer…. Read more »

2016 LA Times Festival of Books Recap

Every year I look forward to the LA Times Festival of Books. A mecca for those who love to read, it’s an amazing event that boasts fantastic panels that covers poetry, romance, crime, young adult, cooking and everything in between. I really think that there is something for everyone at this festival. This year I was only able to go for one day (Sunday) but I made the most of it. By the end of the day we were pooped but very happy. Amazingly, I didn’t buy any books this year. There were a few that I was looking for,… Read more »

Review: Because of Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn

Review: Because of Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn

Fans of historical romance let out a collective squee when it was announced that Julia Queen would be returning to the world of the Bridgertons with a new series. I fell in love with the Bridgertons several years ago when I dipped my toes back into the historical romance genre. I was immediately captured by this unconventional family. Julia Quinn is back with a new book about the Bridgertons and a new family, the Rokesbys. As far as I can tell (and I haven’t done a ton of research) this series happens before the original Bridgertons series and focuses and an earlier generation… Read more »

Trailer: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

Trailer: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

The official trailer for Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children was just released. The trailer definitely has that Tim Burton flavor of the strange and wonderful. While the beginning scene with the entrance to Miss Peregrine’s world is quite different than what I recall from the book, it definitely makes an impression.  Who else will be seeing this when it hits theaters this September?

Review: Beautiful Boss by Christina Lauren

Review: Beautiful Boss by Christina Lauren

Thank you, Christina Lauren, for this sweet and sexy little story about Will and Hanna, one of my favorite couples from the Beautiful Bastard series. While I really do adore everyone in the series, Will and Hanna hold a special place in my heart. There was just something about their story and relationship that I fell in love from the start and I was so, so happy to hear that the author team were planning on writing a novella featuring the two… Read more »
