July 2019 Recap

Hello again, dear readers. As usual, I am a bit late in posting my monthly recap. Hey – at least I am posting one this month. Baby steps, people. Baby steps.

It’s so crazy that summer is almost “over.” I use quotation marks because I live in southern California and don’t anticipate it really cooling down for another month or two at least. While I don’t love hot weather, I do love the amount of daylight you get during the summer so I’ll definitely be sad when the days start getting shorter.

Reading

Unfortunately I don’t think I did a lot of reading last month. I was in a bit of a rut for a couple weeks, during which time I re-read a bunch of the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh. Ugh I just love that series so much and I tend to go back to it when I am in a slump. I am trying to do the NetGalley #reviewathon right now though. NetGalley is encouraging its members to catch up on their reviews with some helpful tips and tricks. The challenge runs from June 22 – August 30. I admit that I have been pretty terrible with keeping up on my electronic review books over the years. So far I have gone through my NetGalley bookshelf and have marked off books that I have read but haven’t reviews yet, which will be the easiest to complete. I’ve also marked the books that I haven’t read yet but want to start next. I also found a few books that I actually already wrote reviews on but, for some reason, never posted my feedback to NetGalley. These are just small steps but they do help me feel more in control of my review pile.

I am also in the midst of helping to plan a local young adult author event called Pasadena Loves YA. I help my friends out every year planning the event and it’s coming up in less than a month! If you are local and like YA, I highly recommend the event. It’s totally free and super fun.

Knitting/Making

I’ve wasn’t super productive with knitting in July either. It might be the hot weather or maybe I am just tired, but I haven’t finished many projects since last month. I did get to visit a yarn store though in Napa when I visited for the day with my mom. Going to a yarn store is always fun and inspires me to knit more. I have lots of fun knitting plans on the horizon.

Fun Stuff

July is always an exciting month for me because it means Comic Con! This year was a really good Comic Con year. It’s always super fun but sometimes it can be stressful with the traveling and the panel planning. But this year was pretty relaxed for me but I still saw almost everything I wanted to see and wasn’t super exhausted by the end of it. I hope to have a full recap of SDCC up soon but, for now, here are a few pics I took this year.

There’s my little July recap. I hope you’re all enjoying the last bits of summer! What have you guys been reading and watching this summer? Let me know in the comments below.
