I think this trailer may have broken the internet for a few minutes earlier this week. Yup, the full trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released this week and made so many people happy. Like many, I had my issues with the last 3 films, but I am being cautiously optimistic about this one. The footage looks fantastic and it’s so fun seeing some of the original actors back in action. Not going to lie, I already have tickets to see this on December 17. :) I need to re-watch the original 3 movies again before I see this…. Read more »
Ahhh! The new trailer for Marvel’s Jessica Jones just dropped and man, it looks good. Netflix has been killing it lately and if the trailer is any indication, they are going to continue that streak with Jessica Jones. If you didn’t know, the show is based off the comic book Alias, written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by Michael Gaydos (with covers by one of my all-time favorite artist David Mack. It’s the story of a former costumed superhero turned private investigator. As you can see from the trailer, there are things in Jessica’s past that don’t want to stay… Read more »
Who says you can’t judge a book by its cover? While it’s not the only factor in picking up a book, a pretty cover doesn’t hurt. Uncovered is a weekly post where I show some cover love.
Happy Friday! This week I am super excited to showcase the cover for the upcoming novel The Blood Between Us by Zac Brewer. We here at Nite Lite are big fans of Uncle Zac and we love this gorgeous cover. The font is bold but not overpowering. I like that the figures look like they are being blown apart and the patterning in the silhouettes look like shards of glass, making it look like they are shattering. It’s a slighlty mysterious cover and it definitely makes me want to take a look inside. Below is a synopsis of the book.
The best way to describe Bird Box by Josh Malerman is creepy. It’s the type of horror novel that plays off your fear of the unknown. What is out there that is driving everyone who sees it into a murderous and suicidal rage? Obviously no one can say because everyone who has seen it is dead. Is it a mysterious creature, aliens or some kind of fog that attacks the viewer? It’s unknown which is part of why it’s so unnerving.

Hello and welcome to Stacked, a weekly (usually) post where I discuss what books I’ve recently bought, borrowed or received. It’s been a while since my last Stacked post. I’ve gotten some really great book mail recently though and made it out to a few events. I probably won’t be doing too much book buying for the rest of the year (famous last words) but these should keep my busy for a little while. :)
A new apartment is a dream come true for interior designer Caroline. The apartment is perfect in every way except for one – her new neighbor has a very active social schedule and she has very thin walls. Caroline can hear every moan, giggle and bang coming from the apartment next door. Unable to take another sleepless night, Caroline confronts her neighbor. What begins as annoyance soon grows into friendship. With the tension running high between the two, will Caroline and Simon become more than just friends?
Hi and welcome to Manicure Monday, a feature that combines my love of reading and nail polish. Each week I’ll showcase one of my current reads along with a matching book manicure.
Yes, I realize that it’s Wednesday and not Monday. I waited a couple of days because I wanted to be able to take manicure pics with the actual book, which came out on Tuesday. This week’s look was inspired by Black Widow: Forever Red by Margaret Stohl. I sported these nails to the book launch party on Monday (thanks, Alethea, for the invite). Black Widow has always been an intriguing character to me and I am excited to see what Stohl has done with the character.
The trailer for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies just dropped and I, for one, and quite excited about it. I read the book by Seth Grahame-Smith ages ago (and even have a signed copy) and I’ve been looking forward to this for a while. It looks very tongue in cheek and fun and combines two things I love – Jane Austen and zombies. I also love the little nod to the BBC adaptation of P&P that they put in. I think this is going to be a fun movie to see with my other Austen loving friends.
Hi and welcome to What Does the Bookworm Say?, a feature where we discuss bookish topics with my friends at The Reader’s Antidote and The Windy Pages. Each week, we will discuss a new bookish topic. Sorry this week’s post is a bit late. The weekend just ran away from me and I haven’t had time to format this post until now. This week’s question is: what recent book(s) were you disappointed in?
