Review: Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers

Review: Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers

I picked this book up about a year ago, excited to finally finish this great series, when I found myself losing interest and putting it down. I didn’t think I’d wait this long to come back to it, but I’m glad that I did. I picked up where I left off and was immediately drawn back into this world of magic, gods, and assassins. Mortal Heart gets off to a much slower start than its predecessors. I think the reason I stalled on it the first time was that it takes a lot longer to get into the meat of the plot than the first two books. In hindsight, however, I think the pacing fits Annith’s story well. Her life isn’t one of danger… Read more »

New Trailer: The Mummy

I haven’t heard a whole lot about this remake of The Mummy but recently they’ve been dropping some new trailers and footage. I’m not going to lie, I kind of love the 1999 series starring Brendan Frasier and Rachel Weisz. Sure it’s a bit cheesy

Review: Milk Bar Life by Christina Tosi

Review: Milk Bar Life by Christina Tosi

I’ve never been to Milk Bar but have heard wonderful things about the delicious treats that can be found at its NY storefront. As such, I was very excited to receive a copy of Milk Bar Life for review. Milk Bar chef and owner Christina Tosi promises simple, comforting recipes with a nostalgic flair.

The book itself is beautiful. The pages are thick and glossy with beautiful images of the featured recipes. Peppered throughout the book are Tosi’s stories about her connection to the recipes and where the came from. Her personality really comes through and the stories were probably my favorite part of the book.… Read more »
