What Does the Bookworm Say?: Favorite Reading Spot
Hi and welcome to What Does the Bookworm Say?, a feature where I discuss bookish topics with my friends at The Reader’s Antidote, Books Unbound and The Windy Pages. Each week, we will discuss a new bookish topic. This week we discuss some of our favorite places to read.
I am pretty boring in my choice of reading spots. It’s weird but I am most comfortable reading if I can recline a bit. That makes it hard when I go to, say a coffee shop to read because I don’t like sitting straight at a table to read. It’s just sort of uncomfortable for me. I prefer couches, beds and squishy chairs that allow me to slouch and get really comfy. These days my favorite place to read is at home, on my couch.
Sorry this really isn’t a great picture. As you can see though, my couch is very red and very squishy. The two pillows at the end are from Target’s Liberty of London collection from several years ago. I fluffed them up for this pic. Usually they look pretty sad since I am always leaning on them. On the couch you can see two handmade blankets. One is a crochet blanket my mom made and the other is a quilt that a family friend made. I like having them nearby in case I get cold while I am reading.
You can’t see it but in front of the couch is a big coffee table where I usually keep a beverage along with my reading notebook in case I need to take notes. I do the majority of my reading on the couch. I also read on my bed sometimes though I tend to want to fall asleep in it, which is another reason most of my reading is done in the living room.
I also like to read outdoors when I can and prefer a nice beach if I can get it. I do find reading outdoors a little distracting though and not always super productive, but definitely fun. Now that you’ve seen my reading spot, show me yours. Let me know in the comments below what your favorite reading spot is and why. I’d love to know!
