September 2020 Recap

Hi, everyone! This is (hopefully) going to just a quick post. September really flew by. On the reading front, I did pretty well on my NetGalley challenge. You can’t tell yet but I read 3-4 books from my backlog and wrote a couple of reviews. I have a few more reviews to write and of course, then I need to post them. But I was really proud of myself for sticking to my older ARCs and I feel that I got a lot accomplished. Please check out The Windy Pages to see how she did on the challenge. I think we are going to try and do this again in early 2021.

Update: As I am writing this it is now October 12. I started this post a couple of weeks ago but only just got back to it. Truly this year seems to be flying but but also going really slowly. What a strange time this is. Anyway, back to my little update.

Reading

Here is what I finished last month:

Forever and a Day by Jill Shalvis
Head Over Hells by Jill Shalvis
Dare To You by Katie McGarry
Ironskin by Tina Connolly
Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Something Strange and Deadly Trilogy by Susan Dennard
Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore

In progress/queued books for October:

Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer – Yes, I did it. I bought a copy of this book. I have started it but it’s slow going. I am not as into the teen angst as I used to be but it’s fun to jump back into this world.

The Guest List by Lucy Foley – It’s October so that means time foe scary books. I know Foley is hugely popular so I hope that this one lives up to the hype.

Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall – This is actually my book club book for the month. I am super excited about this one as it looks super cute and I could use a good romance right now.

Everything Else

Watching: I haven’t been watching much lately. I still have Psych on repeat and, now that the Peacock app is on Roku, I can stream the new movie Psych 2: Lassie Come Home whenever I want as well. I have HBO’s Watchmen on DVD on loan from the library and have watched 2 episodes. So far I am really liking it even though it’s super intense. I can see why it’s gotten so much good press though. I can’t wait to see where the story goes.

Crafting: I recently went on a little sewing binge and made some new face masks for Halloween. I had no idea we’d still need them for Halloween but here we are and I thought that some new fabrics would be fun. I also tried out a couple of new mask sewing patterns, which has been fun. Knitting has been slow going but I feel like my knitting mojo is coming back and I want to make all of things. Hopefully I will be start a couple of projects in the next couple of weeks.

Life things: I am definitely feeling pandemic fatigue. I miss people and hugs and going out to restaurants. I am very lucky I can work from home but I miss seeing my friends and family. I’ve still been taking my daily walks which has helped my mental health a lot. I think I’d really go nuts if I was stuck inside all day. My sleeping habits have been abysmal and I really need to get on a better sleep schedule. I know it’ll make me feel better but sometimes at night I just lay awake and then feel like crap the next day. If you have any tips on how to get better sleep, let me know. I could use any tips I can get.

How have you guys been? Are you registered to vote yet? I urge everyone to vote this upcoming election. It’s more important than ever to let you voice be heard. Let me know what you guys have been reading lately. Are there any fall releases you’re excited about?
