Manicure Monday (72): Sweet Filthy Boy

Manicure Monday is a feature that combines my love of reading and nail polish. Each week I’ll showcase one of my current reads along with a matching book manicure.

Hi, guys! I am going to try to keep this post short since I am scheduling it the night before I go out of town. This week’s book is Sweet Filthy Boy by Christina Lauren. If you missed Olivia’s review last week, definitely check it out. I am bringing this book with me as my airplane books so I’ll be reading it by the time this post goes up.

This cover is pretty sparse so I decided to play around with the shapes and colors. I like the graphic image of the lighter orange circle on the bright orange background. I started with 3 coats of Wet N Wild The Clock Strikes Orange, a medium orange creme, on all of my fingers except my ring finger and thumb. Then I used a few different dotting tools to create a pattern of curved dots on each nail. I used white creme (Cult Nails Tempest), black satin (Cult Nails Fetish), peach (JulieG 9 to 5) and silver (CND Chrome).

Don’t be scared to try this. I know it looks hard but it’s really not that bad. You just need a steady hand and some patience. The results looks way more time intensive than it actually was.

I wanted to play around with the bad boy in a leather jacket that graces the cover as well. So I used a black satin polish (Cult Nails Fetish) that is supposed to dry down to a rubberized finish to create the “leather jacket.” Then I used a small nail brush and the silver polish to draw a zipper down my ring finger.

For my thumb, I painted on a triangle of white to mimic the look of an open jacket. Then I drew in the zipper teeth and pull with the silver polish again. The white on this is really lumpy because I kept messing up, but you can’t really see at this distance.

Here is the whole look all together. I really liked this one. The dots looked really cool and were kind of mesmerizing. It’s really a lot easier than it looks so I urge you all to experiment and give it a go.

I hope you all liked today’s manicure. Things should be a little less crazy for me in the next couple of weeks since I have nowhere to go (yay!). I plan on reading a lot and sleeping. Sleeping sounds good….Have a great week, all!
