Uncovered (136): The Body Electric
Who says you can’t judge a book by its cover? While it’s not the only factor in picking up a book, a pretty cover doesn’t hurt. Uncovered is a weekly post where I show some cover love.
Hello and happy Friday! Wow this week has been going by so slowly, even though it was a short week for me. Have you all recovered from your food comas yet? I kind of wish I had eaten more mashed potatoes last week. Sigh oh well. :) Today’s cover love goes out to The Body Electric by Beth Revis. I have to admit that I have not yet read Revis’s Across The Universe series (I know, I know) but am really excited about this one. Of course, the cover is gorgeous. I love green and think there should be more green book covers. I like that this does not look like a traditional YA novel cover and has an illustration instead of photography. It’s kind of hard to make out the background but it looks like it could be some computer code a la The Matrix. Also kind of reminds me of a jungle. I like the profile in silhouette and also the bees that are on the cover. I have a soft spot for bees which makes this cover even more awesome.
Revis is also sponsoring a huge giveaway right now to promote the book and also to promote the book. According to Revis “for every sale of The Body Electric from now until the end of the year, I’m donating $1 to the creation of beehives in developing nations, a program through World Vision that both helps the ecosystem by helping bees and helps the community by helping families set up an entrepreneurship selling honey. If you plan on buying The Body Electric, now’s a great time–or you can donate direction to World Vision.” You can read more about the giveaway on her blog.
How cool is that? It sounds like a really good cause and you can win books! It would be silly not to enter, really. I actually think I might just make a straight donation to the organization. Gotta save those bees!
The premise of this book sounds great. I am fascinated by dreams and this book is about a girl who can enter people’s dreams. Throw in some rebels, spies, and a corrupt government and you have a gook that I can’t wait to read! Who else is excited for this one?
