Manicure Monday (88): Outlander

Hi and welcome to Manicure Monday, a feature that combines my love of reading and nail polish. Each week I’ll showcase one of my current reads along with a matching book manicure.

Good morning, everyone, and happy Monday. Today, I have a fun look to share with you. As you might recall, I am doing an #OutlanderRAL with a few of my friends. Naturally when it came time for this week’s Manicure Monday post, Outlander was and easy choice.  There are probably many different versions of this cover but the one that I own is a bright blue mass market paperback.

I started off by finding the perfect shade of blue. The cover is a bright, cobalt blue. Luckily I found a match pretty easily with Rescue Beauty’s IKB: 2012. Unfortunately I think this shade was a limited edition and might not be available anymore. It’s a really beautiful blue though and I think it matches the cover perfectly. Two coats were all I needed here.

Next came the hard part. Painting the crown emblem onto my nail was not an easy task. Using acrylic paints and a small nail brush, I did my best to recreate the crown onto my nails. I think it’s one of those things that looks pretty good from far away but, upon closer inspection, is kind of a blobby mess.

I think it looks pretty good though, given the tiny canvas I had to work with. After painting the crown, I sealed everything with a top coat and I was done!

I have not had much time to read in the past week, so I haven’t made much headway into the book. Hoping I can change that this week though because I really want to read more of this book. Let me know what you guys think of this manicure in the comments below. Have you read Outlander yet?
