Stacked (145)
Hello and welcome to Stacked, a weekly (usually) post where I discuss what books I’ve recently bought, borrowed or received.
Hi, guys! Hope you all had a good weekend. I apologize for the lack of reviews on here lately. Things have been super crazy and I haven’t really felt the urge to write. I don’t want to force myself to write when I am not feeling it, but I hope to get some more writing mojo in the next week or so. I am also super behind on some of my event recaps, but I also hope to have some of those up soon. This coming weekend is Pasadena Loves YA. This event has a ton of fantastic authors and if you’re in the area, you should definitely come. It’s a free event and it’ll be tons of fun! This week’s book haul is a small one. I went to the library this weekend and picked a few things up.
Redshirts by John Scalzi – I am not a huge Star Trek person but I know the mythology of a “redshirt.” This is loosely based on that idea and it’s a sci-fi novel about an officer on a space ship who realizes that “redshirts” on the ship are mysteriously dying during missions. I just finished Scalzi’s Lock In and really liked it, so I wanted to pick up a couple ore of his books. This one looks really fun.
Ghost Brigades by John Scalzi – Shoot I just realized that this is the second book in a series. Hmmm maybe it can be read out of order…This one is about a special elite force that uses the DNA of the dead and turns them into the perfect soldiers. This sounded really cool. I hope I can read it without having read the first one.
All the Rage by Courtney Summers – This is a contemporary novel about a girl who is branded a liar when she goes against the town’s golden boy. I have heard really good things about this one and it will be my first Courtney Summers book.
I have been in a little bit of a reading funk for the past week. Nothing is really appealing to me but I hope that some of these library books can spark my interest.
