What Does the Bookworm Say? Hobbies
Hi and welcome to What Does the Bookworm Say?, a feature where I discuss bookish topics with my friends at The Reader’s Antidote, Books Unbound and The Windy Pages. Each week, we will discuss a new bookish topic. This week’s topic is hobbies! What hobbies do you enjoy?
Wait – you mean I don’t spend all my free time reading? As nice as that sounds, I do have other interests and hobbies that I partake in. It might be strange but I’ve never considered reading a “hobby.” For me, it’s something that I just do and that is a part of my every day life. I think of hobbies more like fun things I like to do in my free time. While I would be sad if I could not do some of the things I consider hobbies, I don’t know if I could survive without reading. That’s a random distinction but that’s how I think of it. But let’s talk about my hobbies.
One of my favorite hobbies is knitting. I learned to do it about 10 years ago and I still love it. I am pretty surprised that I have been doing it this long and that I am still into. Not that it’s not an awesome thing to do, but I have lost interest in other crafty hobbies before. But knitting seems to be here to stay, for now at least. I like that I can do it pretty much anywhere and I really like doing it while I watch TV at home. It makes me feel productive while I am vegging out on the couch. Below are some projects that I’ve knit.
The next hobby, if you can call it a hobby, that I want to talk about is eating and cooking. We all need to eat but I take a lot of pleasure in it and like to eat a new places when I can. I am totally guilty of taking pictures of my food. If you follow me on Insatgram, you’ll see all of my foodporn. I also like to bake a lot. I have a passion for sweets and it’s fun to try new recipes. I usually take it into work, or else I’d eat it all.
Next up, is my beauty and nail polish addiction. I love all makeup but especially nail polish. It’s so fun and easy to have fun digits and it’s hard to resist when I see new shades. You all know that I do Manicure Monday on the blog, but I also have a separate nail polish blog called The Painted Ninja. I don’t update it as much as I should because this blog takes up most of my time, but I do it when I can.
The last hobby I want to talk about involved movies & television. I really love movies and going to the movies. Sure I watch things at home on DVD and Netflix, but I prefer to go to the movie theater when possible. I really love the experience of going to the theater and watching a movie with an audience. I like to go to the movies by myself or with friends. When I was younger, I really wanted to work in the film industry. In a way, I do now, but not directly. I still think it would be a cool thing to do. Maybe one day…
