Hi and welcome to What Does the Bookworm Say?, a feature where I discuss bookish topics with my friends at The Reader’s AntidoteBooks Unbound and The Windy Pages. Each week, we will discuss a new bookish topic. This week’s topic is favorite book series!

I am going to keep today’s post to the point, with no pics or links. I totally forgot that a post was supposed to go up this week so I am busting this out the night before. I have a busy weekend ahead, with Long Beach Comic Con and an outdoor screening of Beetlejuice. As you may have noticed, I am a big fan of series books. I really love it when I find a world that so interesting that I want to keep coming back to it. With a good series, I feel like I learn something new about the world with each book while it still remains familiar and the characters are like old friends. So, in no particular order, here are some of my favorite series.

1. Harry Potter by JK Rowling – I mean, come on. You knew this was going to be on here. Many people have said it before and said it better, but Rowling really created a magical and wonderful world in this series and each book got better and more complex.

2. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead – VA is the only series I started because of an Amazon Kindle sample. I downloaded the sample and, months later, finally got around to reading it. But once I did, I was hooked and I quickly purchased and read the other books in the series that were out of the time. I love how badass Rose was and it was fun following these characters as they grew. Also led to the spinoff series, Bloodlines, which I am also a huge fan of.

3. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer – Sci-fi fairy tales! You really can’t get much better than that. Love how fun and imaginative this series is. A unique take on fairy tales we all know.

4. Psy–Changeling by Nalini Singh – I think this series is on book 13, but I still get excited whenever a new installment comes out. Each book is about a different couple so it keeps things interesting. While I haven’t loved every book in this series, I’ve really like the majority of them and Singh is one of my favorite writers.

5. Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews – One of the best urban fantasy series I’ve read. I have loved all of them. The rich world building and fantastic characters make this a series that I want to come back to again and again.

6. The Wallflowers by Lisa Kleypas – I was not a huge fan of historical romance until I discovered Lisa Kleypas. Her Wallflowers series is a great entryway into the genre. They are smart, funny, and sexy books with really great characters.

7. Darkest London by Kristen Callihan – A blend of the paranormal, historical, and romance, Darkest London is one of the most inventive and unique series. I love the blend of historical and supernatural. And of course, the romances are super hot!

8. The Iron Seas by Meljean Brook – I don’t read a lot of steampunk but this series captured me right away. Lots of fantastic world building, done in a way that feels really natural and not like just an info-dump.

9. Maiden Lane by Elizabeth Hoyt – I came upon this historical romance series sort of by accident when I met the author at a big signing event. She was so nice and I decided to buy the first book in this series from her. I was hooked after the first book and eagerly await each new release.

10. The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien – What can you really say about this? I feel like people either love LOTR or hate it. Happily I am in the former group. Just incredible world building and I love the movies, too. I need to re-read these books at some point.

That’s 10! I am sure I am missing some series but these are some of my current favorite. Do you liked reading series books? What’s your favorite series? I’d love to put some new books on my TBR list. Don’t forget to check out The Reader’s AntidoteBooks Unbound and The Windy Pages to see what their answers are to today’s question.
