Uncovered (24): Wonder
This week’s Uncovered features a book that you’ve probably seen. Wonder by R.J. Palacio has gotten rave reviews and has a great cover to boot. The cover is minimal and totally unique. The bright blue really stands out and the bold black lines really pop. The story is about a boy who has a facial deformation, and I love how the cover only shows part of his face. I also love the way the text is used as part of the illustration. A very simple yet very effective cover.
R.J.Palacio is actually a book jacket designer by trade but she did not design the cover for her own book. That honor went to Tad Carpenter, who has done lots of illustration work. Awesome, awesome cover.
