Uncovered (121): The Darkest Part of the Forest
Who says you can’t judge a book by its cover? While it may not be the only factor in what book I pick up, a pretty cover certainly doesn’t hurt. Uncovered is my weekly post where I share some cover love.
I love Fridays! Sorry, it just had to be said. :) This week I am featuring The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black. I am bummed that I missed this one at ALA. I think I was in another line or something and could not make it to Holly’s signing. One of the reasons I was really excited about this book though was the fact that it had this pretty, pretty cover. I don’t know if you guys have noticed but I have a fondness for fairy tales and re-tellings, which often have dark and creepy forests as a setting. It’s no surprise then that I love this cover. I love all of the creepy forest motifs from the twisted vines to the pretty (but possibly deadly) butterfly. I also like how the font is integrated into the forest and seems to be cut or carved from it. I am sure that the final cover will be even prettier than this computer image shows.
Does anyone else have a fairy take forest fetish? :)
