Review: Fiancée For Hire by Tawna Fenske

Review: Fiancée For Hire by Tawna Fenske

Ever since I read Marine for Hire (Front and Center #1) , I was hoping for a Mac and Kelli book. I was so excited to see that it was coming out that I pre-ordered it. This is big, since I don’t pre-order many books. When the book arrived, I started reading it immediately. I would have read it all night if I hadn’t had an early morning training. As it was, I stayed up too late and then felt like a kid again as I tried sneaking in chapters during the breaks and slows parts of the training. And when I did finally finish reading it, I went back and re-read all my favorite parts.

Review: Saga Vol. 1 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples

Review: Saga Vol. 1 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples

My first introduction to the work of Brian K. Vaughan came from reading Runaways. It was snarky and fun and I loved it. It was my first actual comic book series. Yes, I know I was late to the party but I am here now. Isn’t that what counts?

Fortunately, when I started Runaways, I had the first eight volumes available to read. Sadly, after seven volumes, Vaughan left to work on other projects, and vol 8 was written by the amazing Joss Whedon who maintained Vaughan’s vision and voice. However, after Whedon when the voice changed with a new writer, I decided to follow Vaughan rather than the Runaways, and I have been following him ever since.

Review: Sweet Filthy Boy by Christina Lauren

Review: Sweet Filthy Boy by Christina Lauren

Recently, I have been in a reading slump. I start books and don’t finish them. I have trouble with finding a connection to characters and I wonder if I will ever finish a book again. I reached out to a friend and asked her to recommend a favorite book. We have similar taste in books, particularly in the types of hero/heroines we like. Her response – Sweet Filthy Boy by Christina Lauren, author of the Beautiful Series. As part of full disclosure, I have not read the Beautiful Series. Something about that series never appealed to me.

Audiobook Review: I Don’t Know What You Know Me From by Judy Greer

Audiobook Review: I Don’t Know What You Know Me From by Judy Greer

I’ve been a fan of Judy Greer’s for a while now. While she may not be instantly recognizable to some, her acting resume is impressive and varied. She’s been in Thirteen Going On Thirty, The Wedding Planner, Arrested Development, The Village and 27 Dresses. One of my favorite roles of hers is Cheryl/Carol from the animated series Archer, in which she plays a psychotic railway heiress who likes auto-erotic asphyxiation, bobcats and country music. She often plays the best friend or kooky co-worker, which suits her well as she seems like she would be a really great girlfriend.
