Review: The Kraken King Part I by Meljean Brook

Review: The Kraken King Part I by Meljean Brook

I am not usually a fan of serialized stories (I prefer the immediate gratification of being able to read the entire book) but I couldn’t resist when I heard that Meljean Brook was writing her next book in a serialized format. I just couldn’t wait until all of the parts were out to dive in and resigned myself to having to wait for each part to come out

Review: Sapphire Flames by Ilona Andrews

Review: Sapphire Flames by Ilona Andrews

The Hidden Legacy series continues, albeit with a new narrator. I admit that I was a little wary of the shift from Nevada’s story over to that of her younger sister, Catalina, who has become a power of her own over the course of the series. However, as a huge fan of the Ilona Andrew team, I was excited to dive back into this world

Review: Ocean Light by Nalini Singh

Review: Ocean Light by Nalini Singh

Ocean Light is the much anticipated book featuring Bowen Knight, a character who first appeared early on in Singh’s Psy-Changeling series. First an enemy, then an ally, Bo is the leader of the Human Alliance. His abhorrence to psychic interference runs deep, which causes him to have a chip implanted into his brain which blocks psychic powers. Unfortunately the chip isn’t without faults and it begins to degrade, putting Bo’s life in danger

Review: Once Upon a Christmas Eve by Elizabeth Hoyt

I love reading a good Christmas themed story during the holidays. I was super excited to see that one of my favorite historical romance authors had one that I had somehow overlooked. The Maiden Lane series is also a fave so it was a double win for me

Review: The Tiara On the Terrace by Kristen Kittscher

Review: The Tiara On the Terrace by Kristen Kittscher

The Tiara On the Terrace is a delightful follow up to the charming middle grade mystery, The Wig in the Window. Tiara follows the exploits of best friends Sophie Young and Grace Young who enjoy spy games and recently became town heroes when they captured a killer in their idyllic hometown of Luna Vista. Young and Yang are content to stay away from too much excitement for a while when a mystery falls right into their laps. The president of the Winter Sun Festival, the biggest and most revered annual event in Luna Vista, is found dead one morning in the float barn from an apparent accidental animatronic marshmallow malfunction. While everyone else accepts the tragedy as a freak accident, Young and Yang aren’t so sure, as the clues don’t quite add up. In order to solve the mystery, the two must embark on possibly their must difficult mission yet – infiltrate the Winter Sun royal court and catch the killer before he strikes again! Read more >>

Review: The Secrets We Keep by Trisha Leaver

Review: The Secrets We Keep by Trisha Leaver

Maddy and Ella are identical twins but they could not be more different. Maddy is popular and vivacious. People seem to gravitate towards her. Ella on the other hand, is quiet and is more interested in getting into art school than who’s going with whom to the Snow Ball. Maddy and Ella used to be best friends until high school, when Maddy got a whole new group of friends and there seemed to be no place for Ella in Maddy’s new life.

Review: Knockout Knits by Laura Nelkin

Review: Knockout Knits by Laura Nelkin

Knockout Knits is a gorgeous collection of luxurious and eye-catching accessories that incorporate simple techniques and embellishments for knockout results. I’ve been following designer Laura Nelkin for a while now. She’s known for creating beautiful accessories that often incorporate beads. When I heard that she had a book coming out, I knew I wanted to get it just for the section on how to bead. While the beading section was what drew me to the book, the other techniques and patterns in the book are just as good.
