Summer Movies I’m Looking Forward To

Summer is here and that means summer movies! I recently got a MoviePass which allows me to see more movies for less money. One of my favorite parts of summer is being able to go to a nice, air conditioned theater, get some popcorn, and enjoy a fun movie. Summer usually means big blockbuster action films but that’s not all it has to offer. Here are a few movies that I am looking forward to this summer.

Won’t You Be My Neighbor (June 8)

Like many people, I grew up with Mr. Rogers. His message of love and kindness really appealed to me as a child and I carried that with me into adulthood. He was pretty subversive in his own way. I think we can still learn a lot from him. This documentary looks really good and I can’t wait to see it. (I also love the fact that his mother knit all of the sweaters he wore on the show.)

Incredibles 2 (June 15)

I’ve been waiting over 10 years for this sequel. I fell in love with this extraordinary family and cannot wait to see what they’ve been up to.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (June 22)

I am a little annoyed at the marketing campaign for this film. The later trailers reveal a lot more about the plot than the initial trailer did. Personally, I was annoyed by them revealing what I feel like is a pretty big plot point. I am not sure if they decided to do this because the first trailer wasn’t drawing people in but I think the other trailers give too much away. That said, I am still very excited about this. I love the Jurassic Park series and really enjoyed Jurassic World and am looking forward to seeing Blue and the other dinos again.

Ant-Man and the Wasp (July 8)

We are finally going to see The Wasp kick some butt! I wasn’t sold on Ant-Man the first time I saw it but it’s steadily grown on me. I think this is just going to be really fun.

Skyscraper (July 13)

My friend pointed out that this looks a lot like a modern day Die Hard with The Rock filling in for the John McClane character. As a die-hard Die Hard fan, I am down to watch anything that resembles that movie. Nothing can capture the same magic as the original Die Hard but this looks like a lot of fun. It’s the quintessential summer action movie.

Equalizer 2 (July 20)

I mentioned in my previous post how much I’ve been enjoying Equalizer. Lucky for me the sequel is coming out in a little over a month. I am a little annoyed that the trailer shows a major character death (trailers, leave something to the imagination) but am pretty excited about it. Looks like Denzel is still righting wrongs in his own special way when a shady group of characters tries to take him out. Good luck with that.

Crazy Rich Asians (August 17)

I recently read the book on which this movie is based. The book was fun but I didn’t love it. Mainly because I found most of the characters to be pretty unlikable. However, the trailer for this looks amazing and super fun and I cannot wait to go and see it with all of my friends.

Those are some of the film I’m looking forward to seeing this summer. What films are you excited about? Am I missing anything? I hope you guys are all having a wonderful week!
