Hello and welcome to Stacked, a weekly (usually) post where I discuss what books I’ve recently bought, borrowed or received.

Happy Easter to everyone that celebrates. I like to celebrate chocolate and pastel colors on Easter so I am munching on some Cadbury mini eggs right now. I have a nice book haul this week thanks to a trip to the library and a full, fun day at Wonder Con (more about that later this week).

Unremembered by Jessica Brody – I’ve surprisingly never read any of Brody’s books even though I’ve seen her many times and really like her as a person. She usually writes contemporary YA but the Unremembered series is a sci-fi series about a girl who is the sole survivor of a plane crash. She wakes with no memory but, as she tries to discover who she is, she uncovers secrets that may be better left buried.

The Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick – This one is an epic story that spans centuries and weaves together four different stories. I did not love the last Sedgwick book I read but he is a talented writer and I have heard good things about this one.

Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter – Another one that’s been on my TBR list for a long time. I love zombies and Alice in Wonderland so this sounds like the perfect book.

The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty – This is the book club pick this month. Fictionalized (I think) story about one summer spent chaperoning a young Louise Brooks, a rising Hollywood film star.

Alex + Ada Vol 2 by Jonathan Luna and Sarah Vaughn – Second volume of this awesome comic book series about a young man and his android companion. Artificial intelligence is feared in Alex’s world but he takes a risk and unlocks Ada so that she can think for herself. However, now they must hide the fact that she’s been unlocked or suffer the consequences. This series is so good! A must read!

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins – Many thanks to my pal Crystal for gifting me with her extra copy of this one. This book is everywhere right now and I don’t really know much about it except that I think it’s a mystery/thriller. I want to go into it knowing as little as possible so I am trying not to read any spoilers.

Saga Vol 4 by Brian K Vaughan and Fiona Staples – I am totally behind on Saga and had not bought Vol 4 yet. Happily I was able to pick up a copy at Wonder Con this weekend. For those who haven’t read Saga yet, do it right now. It’s a fantastic sci-fi opera romance with tons of action and fantastic dialogue and art. It’s hard to categorize but it is amazing.

Alex + Ada Vol 1 by Jonathan Luna and Sarah Vaughn – You saw that I bought Vol 2 above. I actually did not own Vol 1, which I originally borrowed from a friend. Found a great, discounted copy at Wonder Con and had to pick it up because this series is great and totally worth owning.

Preacher Book 3 by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon – Slowly trying to build up my collection of the Preacher trades. I had a few of the original TPBs but a few years ago Vertigo released a deluxe edition (called Books instead of Volumes) which are a bit nicer in paper quality and each one collects more issues than the original trades.

I haven’t had much of a chance to read this weekend but, as you can see, I have lots of good stuff to choose from. Happy reading, everyone!
