Stacked (141)
Stacked is a weekly post where I discuss what books I’ve bought, borrowed or received for the week.
Hi, everyone! We are experiencing a crazy heat wave right now in SoCal. I know it’s better than being snowed in but sometimes I wish we had more seasons. My reading has been really slow lately so I haven’t been adding a lot of books to my stash but I have added a few.
Black Widow Vol. 2: The Tightly Tangled Web by Nathan Edmondson and Phil Noto – I am not a huge Black Widow fan (something about ScarJo portraying her just bugs me) but I did enjoy Vol 1 of this new Widow series. Noto’s artwork is gorgeous and Edmondson’s writing is solid.
Trees Vol 1 by Warren Ellis and Jason Howard – This is a new series about an alien life form that makes contact with Earth but remains hidden as trees for 10 years. I really don’t know much about this series but Ellis is always an interesting writer and I am excited to read this one.
Sarah’s Key by Tatiana de Rosnay – This is our March book club selection and is the story of a young girl and her family who are arrested during WWII. She locks her little brother in a cabinet thinking that they’ll be back in a few hours. I have a feeling that this is going to be super intense and probably sad.
Fairest by Marissa Meyer – I was super excited to find this at the library. This is the book told from the evil Queen Levana’s POV. While I doubt that anything is going to make me love her, I am interested to read about her origins.
Rock Hard by Nalini Singh (not pictured) – I already finished this one. I started it the night it downloaded to my Kindle. Romance between Charlie, a shy assistant with emotional scars and Gabriel (T Rex) the ruthless businessman with a soft spot for a certain feisty mouse.
Kalahari by Jessica Khoury (not pictured) – Went to a signing this week and bought a copy of this book for Jessica to sign. Five teens are stranded in the Kalahari Desert during an educational field trip. I like survival stories and I’ve always had a fear of getting stranded in a desert so I’ll probably find this terrifying.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
