September NetGalley Challenge
Hello again! I am back with a challenge in partnership with my friend Kimberly from The Windy Pages. We have decided to take the month of September to focus on reading and reviewing those languishing NetGalley ARCs. I get so much guilt whenever I look at my NetGalley shelf so hopefully I’ll be able to knock a few books out this month.
I will have two categories of books for this challenge – those that I have already read and need to write a review on (shameful, I know) and those that I would like to read and then also write a review on. Below are the books I’ve selected for each category (subject to change based on whatever I feel like).
Already Read/Need To Review
Little Universes by Heather Demetrios – I read this one pretty recently. It’s about two twin sisters who lose their parents in a terrible tragedy and how each sister deals with the loss. It was a pretty intense book but if you enjoy books about grief then this might be a good one for you.
Iron and Magic by Ilona Andrews – I am a terrible person because I pretty much read this right when I got it back in 2018 but haven’t written a review for it yet. This book focuses on Hugh, a longtime villain in the Kate Daniels series. I wasn’t sure if Andrews could pull off giving Hugh any redeeming qualities but they did.
A Heart of Blood and Ashes by Milla Vane – This is also a pretty recent read. This is kind of the only series I’ve read that is categorized as “barbarian romance.” There is some amazing world building in this and great smutty scenes. I enjoyed it a lot and just found out that the next book in the series is out! I am not letting myself get it until I write the review for this one.
Need to Read and Review
Forever and a Day by Jill Shalvis – OMG this book came out in 2012! I have no excuse for not reading it except that I just probably forgot about it. I’ve read a couple of books in the Lucky Harbor series before and they’re cute romances. I think this will be the perfect thing to read coming at the end of summer.
Ironskin by Tina Connolly – Ugh this cover is gorgeous. I remember being excited to read this. This one also came out in 2012. It looks like a cool blend of paranormal and fae lore and I am excited to finally read it!
Dare You To by Katie McGarry – I have heard really good things about McGarry and I am not sure why I haven’t picked up any of her books before now. This is the second in a series but I think I can read it without going in order. Seems very teen angst-y but also promises a possible love/hate romance, my fave.
Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead – I actually think I may have started this at one point. It’s listed as on hold on my Goodreads shelf. I love Richelle Mead but I remember this one getting mixed reviews. Possibly that I just wasn’t in the mood for this at the time and put it down. Guess we’ll see if I can finish it this go around.
Those are my current picks. I totally reserve the right to change my mind at any time, but hopefully I will at least stick to ARCs. Let me know what you guys have been reading lately. Is anyone else’s TBR pile getting out of control?
