Scary Movies and Shows I’m Looking Forward To This Month

More than 1 post in a week? Crazy, I know! I am trying to keep the blog train going while there’s momentum. It helps that it’s October, which is one of my favorite months. I love cooler weather and, of course, Halloween. Along with Halloween comes scary movies and TV shows! I watch way less horror than I used to. I think my anxiety has gone up which makes watching really scary things hard sometimes. I still enjoy scary movies but they have to be the right tone. I am not super into the crazy slasher type movies. I am more into creepy and atmospheric stuff these days. This Halloween season there is a lot of fun stuff to choose from. Below are some of the scary films and TV shows that I want to check out this month.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (October 26)
I haven’t read the comic book series that this is based off of, but I’ve heard good things about it. I was never a big watcher of the original Sabrina series. It was never really my vibe. However, this darker and creepier version of the character seems right up my alley. I love the style of it, a little kitschy but still modern. I think this is going to be fun.

House on Haunted Hill (October 12)
Why are children so creepy? They’re adorable but they can also be super scary, as seen in almost every scary movie trailer in the last 10 years. I’ve definitely seen many different iterations of this story. I am not really sure what the premise for this is besides that it’s a creepy house that maybe makes the inhabitants insane. I love Carla Gugino as well so I am all in for this one.

Halloween (October 19)
It’s another Halloween movie! But this one has Jamie Lee Curtis which makes it automatically more awesome. I think the last one with Jamie Lee was Halloween H20, which I totally saw in theaters. I don’t recall it being very good. I have much higher hopes for this one. Jamie Lee looks pretty kick ass in the trailer. She’s out to end Michael Meyers once and for all. Knowing Hollywood, even if he does “die” in this one, they’ll resurrect him again in a few years for a reboot. That doesn’t make me any less excited to see this one though.

Bad Times at the El Royale (October 12)
This movie has a crazy talented cast. Chris Hemsworth is looking edible, as always, so if nothing else I’ll at least be able to stare at him during the movie.

Stranger Things Season 2
I know, I know, this has been out for almost a year already. Wow, a whole year. I did start season 2 last year when it was first released. I got through about 4 episodes before I ended up taking a break. Nothing wrong with the show. I still really love it. As I’ve said before, I am just a terrible TV viewer and often get distracted in the middle of a season. I’d like to finish this one this month though. It’s kind of the perfect Halloween show, right?

Castle Rock
This has actually been out for a while now. It’s based on I guess just the general world of Stephen King. It looks super creepy and I love Stephen King. Not sure why I haven’t started this yet except that I am usually pretty slow to watch most TV shows. It’s kind of nice though because now I have a bunch of episodes to watch instead of having to wait for them to be released. There are some advantages to procrastination.

Train to Busan
This is another film that’s been out for awhile. I love a good zombie movie so I am not sure why I haven’t watched this one yet. My friend at work is always raving about it so I really want to watch it before the month is over. Are people over zombies? I hope not because I really enjoy them.

That’s my scary movie/TV queue for the month. Do you have a favorite scary movie or show that I need to check out? I’d love to know.
