Manicure Monday (103): Big Magic

Manicure Monday (103): Big Magic

Hi and welcome to Manicure Monday, a feature that combines my love of reading and nail polish. Each week I’ll showcase one of my current reads along with a matching book manicure. It’s been quite a while since my last Manicure Monday post. No real excuse for it except to say that I really haven’t had much time lately to paint my nails one colors, much less do any nail art. I’ve been meaning to get back into it though and, at the urging of a friend, made the effort this week to play with some polish. Funny that the book… Read more »

Thank God It’s Monday Blog Tour

Thank God It’s Monday Blog Tour

Hi, everyone and welcome to the kick off for the Thank God It’s Monday Blog Tour. A Week of Mondays is the upcoming contemporary YA novel by Jessica Brody. I feel the way about Monday as I think most people do – the are not my favorite. Imagine having to live the same terrible Monday over and over again for a week. Sounds bad, right? Well that’s just what the main character, Ellie, in A Week of Mondays has to do. I am a big fan of Jessica Brody’s and I cannot wait to read A Week of Mondays! Keep… Read more »

Uncovered (152): This Adventure Ends by Emma Mills

Uncovered (152): This Adventure Ends by Emma Mills

Who says you can’t judge a book by its cover? While it’s not the only factor in picking up a book, a pretty cover doesn’t hurt. Uncovered is a (semi) weekly post where I show some cover love. Enjoy! Happy Friday, everyone! I am really excited about this week’s Uncovered feature. Emma Mills seems to be blessed with great book covers. Her last novel, First & Then, also appeared in an Uncovered post last year. Her upcoming novel, This Adventure Ends, is just as eye catching and I can’t wait to add it to my bookshelves. I love that this looks like an actual painted canvas…. Read more »

Uncovered (151): As I Descended by Robin Talley

Who says you can’t judge a book by its cover? While it’s not the only factor in picking up a book, a pretty cover doesn’t hurt. Uncovered is a (semi) weekly post where I show some cover love. Enjoy! Happy Friday, everyone! I am looking forward to a nice weekend relaxing and getting through some of my TBR pile. I am jealous of everyone who actually gets a summer break. If one of the current presidential candidates advocated for mandatory summer break, I would probably vote for them. :) But anyway, today on Uncovered I am featuring  an upcoming fall release. As I Descended… Read more »

Stacked (156)

Hello and welcome to Stacked, a weekly (usually) post where I discuss what books I’ve recently bought, borrowed or received. Happy Tuesday, everyone. I know this post is a bit late but I just got back from a brief visit to see my family. I hit a crazy heat wave while I was away, too. I am in SoCal so I usually get hotter weather than where my family but somehow we switched weather patterns this weekend. I was happy to find that it was much cooler in L.A. when I got back. I love summer but I am not the biggest fan… Read more »

Uncovered (150): Madly by Amy Alward

Who says you can’t judge a book by its cover? While it’s not the only factor in picking up a book, a pretty cover doesn’t hurt. Uncovered is a (semi) weekly post where I show some cover love. Enjoy! Yikes, it’s been quite a while since my last Uncovered post. There have been plenty of beautiful covers in the meantime and I hope to make this a more regular feature again. This past weekend I visited The Ripped Bodice with my friend Alethea. The Ripped Bodice is a romance only bookstore in L.A. and it’s pretty amazing for a romance lover like myself. I… Read more »

Hello and welcome to Stacked, a weekly (usually) post where I discuss what books I’ve recently bought, borrowed or received. Wow I just realized that I haven’t had a Stacked post in quite a while. Hi, everyone! Sorry I’ve been a bit MIA lately. I’ve had some car troubles recently that have taken up a lot of my time as well as just general life things. Good news is I think it’s starting to quiet down now and I’ll have a bit more time to read and blog. I haven’t had as much time to read as usual, which has been a bummer…. Read more »

2016 LA Times Festival of Books Recap

2016 LA Times Festival of Books Recap

Every year I look forward to the LA Times Festival of Books. A mecca for those who love to read, it’s an amazing event that boasts fantastic panels that covers poetry, romance, crime, young adult, cooking and everything in between. I really think that there is something for everyone at this festival. This year I was only able to go for one day (Sunday) but I made the most of it. By the end of the day we were pooped but very happy. Amazingly, I didn’t buy any books this year. There were a few that I was looking for,… Read more »
