Manicure Monday (85): The 500

Hi and welcome to Manicure Monday, a feature that combines my love of reading and nail polish. Each week I’ll showcase one of my current reads along with a matching book manicure.

Good morning! Thanks for coming by today. I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately but have been trying get past it by listening to audiobooks while I am in the car. I have a pretty horrendous commute so I have lots of car time during the week. This week I’ve been listening to The 500 by Matthew Quirk. I have an ARC of the book that I got ages ago as well, and have been alternating between listening and reading. It’s very reminiscent of some of the old John Grisham novels I used to read – a political thriller with some shady character. It’s pretty fun so far.

This manicure was really easy to do and I liked the results a lot. First I started off with two coats of a dirty white called OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. Next, I used a beauty sponge and a darker grey, Zoya Carey, to mimic the background of the book cover.

Then I used a small nail brush and red acrylic paint to draw in the “500.” I tried to keep it as close to the original font as possible. I think the “5” looks pretty good.

All that was left was to add the silhouettes of the figures. I did that with some black and white acrylic paint. Added some top coat and I was done! This was easy peasy and matches the cover pretty well. Hope you guys liked today’s look!
