Manicure Monday (82): Archangel’s Shadows

Hi and welcome to Manicure Monday, a feature that combines my love of reading and nail polish. Each week I’ll showcase one of my current reads along with a matching book manicure.

Hello! I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween. I can’t believe that it’s over already. :( At least I still have leftover candy to enjoy. This week’s manicure was inspired by Nalini Singh’s newest book, Archangel’s Shadows. I almost did not do a manicure for this one because it’s pretty detailed and there was no way I was going to try to paint any of the figures onto my nails. However, I was looking at the cover, trying to find something I could use for nail inspiration when I noticed the cool color shift that starts at the bottom left side of the cover. The background goes from a rusty orange, to gold, to a dusty blue. I really liked the unusual colors and decided to use them as the basis for this week’s manicure.

I created this gradient with 3 colors. I had to paint each color on separately since the gold was super glittery and was rubbing off on everything. I started with the rust orange shade which is Optic Illusion Pink Pixie. It’s not pink at all but that’s what it’s called. This is a super old polish that I found at an old beauty supply store. The gold is Zoya Kerry. This one is super bright gold and is quite sparkly. I used OPI I Have A Herring Problem for the blue at the tips of my nails.

For the “snow” I used a small dotting tool and Cult Nails Tempest, a bright white creme, to create different sized pieces of falling snow.

I accidentally smeared the dots a little when I put on top coat because I didn’t wait long enough. You can’t really tell from far away but you can definitely see it up close. I am a little annoyed that I did that but I can live with it.

I like how this one cam out. Even though it’s a very loose interpretation of the cover, it was fun and I really like the finished look. I am loving this book so far, too. Ashwini and Janvier has such fantastic chemistry and I am so glad that their book is finally out. Hope you guys liked today’s manicure. Let me know what you think in the comments below.:)
