Manicure Monday (78): The Corner of Bitter and Sweet

MM-arrow-volupte-purple

Hi and welcome to Manicure Monday, a feature that combines my love of reading and nail polish. Each week I’ll showcase one of my current reads along with a matching book manicure.

Hello! I can’t believe it’s Monday again and it’s almost freakin’ October! Where is this year going?  Well I am excited for the cooler weather and I pretty much plan to watch horror movies all October long. Alright, for this week’s Manicure Monday, I am featuring The Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford. This is my book club selection and I really need to finish it before Tuesday. Eee! Can I do it? I don’t know… (Apologies in advance for the quality of these pics. I only got the chance to take pics at night and they are less than stellar. If I have time, I will update with better pics.)

To create the background I started off with two coats of a light yellow (China Glaze Lemon Fizz). After that dried, I created some texture with China Glaze Mahogany Magic (med brown) and Wet N Wild The Clock Strikes Orange (orange). While those were still wet I put on some top coat to blend the edges.

Next, I used acrylic paints to paint in the two figures and the fence from the cover. I had a hard time getting the colors right on this one and you can probably see that they don’t match very well. But I tried, and that’s what counts, right?

I don’t think these are my best nails but it turned out better than I actually thought it was going to. These pics suck though so I am definitely going to take new ones this week.
