Manicure Monday (28): Clarity

Manicure Monday is a weekly feature that combines my love of nail polish and reading. Each week I’ll show you one of my current reads along with what’s on my nails.

Hello and thanks for stopping by the Manicure Monday feature here are Nite Lite. Today I am featuring Clarity by Kim Harrington. As you can see, I am actually reading an old ARC that I borrowed from a friend. I am trying to get through some of the books I’ve borrowed so I can give them back and make some room on my shelves. I haven’t gotten very far into it yet but I really like it. I like the way Harrington writes Clare. She seems like a real teen and she’s pretty badass. I am not sure where the story is going yet but I think it’s going to be fun.

I started with a base of white with OPI’s My Boyfriend Scales Walls from the Spiderman collection. It’s kind of streaky but I like that it’s a more muted white. I then sponged on a gradient with a pretty blue from American Apparel called The Valley. I wanted to mimic blue fade that is the background of this cover.

I tried to do a watercolor type thing to mimic the sunspots on the cover, but that turned out pretty bad. Instead, I used an orange and yellow polish to just make some dots on my pinkie. It kind looks like it though it doesn’t really have the exact same effect.

Finally. I drew in some seagulls with a small nail brush and some dark grey nail polish. The seagulls came out better than I anticipated and I had a lot of fun making them.

So that’s my manicure today. Hope you guys liked it. Let me know what you think in the comments below and leave me a link if you do your own book mani. Have a great week!
