Manicure Monday (22): The Orphan Master’s Son
Manicure Monday is a weekly feature that combines my love of nail polish and reading. Each week I’ll show you one of my current reads along with what’s on my nails.
Good morning! I can’t believe it’s Monday again. Where did the weekend go? I am still currently on vacation and loving every second on it. I’ve gotten a bit of reading done and am mostly just trying to stay out of this crazy heat wave. Today I have a fun little manicure that I did while reading my current book club selection, The Orphan Master’s Son by Adam Johnson.

I started off with a creamy white base. I picked Cotton because it is not a stark white and matched the color of the cover well. For the orange, I didn’t have anything quite that shade so I mixed a bright orange with a darker red to create darker orange shade. I did a simple gradient with it. After letting that dry, I used a teeny tiny paintbrush from the craft store to paint in the tiger stripes. I think the result is fun and looks harder than it actually is.
I am enjoying the book so far though it is hard to read. It’s about the life one man from North Korea and, though fictitious, was extensively researched. It’s not the most light hearted read and definitely not a fun, summer read. So I am slowly reading it while I read some other books.
