source Holidays bring out all kinds of emotions in people. It also reveals everyone’s favorite holiday traditions. Whether it is the types of food people eat for Thanksgiving or Christmas Dinner, when you can start playing Christmas music (before Thanksgiving or not until after), how you hang your stocking or what decorations go on your tree, most people have something they must do every year. As a child, there were certain holiday cartoons and movies that I had to see every year. It just wasn’t Christmas if you hadn’t seen How The Grinch Stole Christmas or Charlie Brown Christmas Special…. Read more »

Looks like a new teaser trailer has just been released for the 2014 Godzilla remake. I am a sucker for all things monster and sci-fi so I’ll be going to see this no matter what. While the teaser doesn’t give too much away, you do get an idea of of the tone of the film and a brief glimpse of Godzilla himself that is promising. The film’s pedigree includes a co-writer credit by Frank Darabont (Walking Dead, Shawshank Redemption) that bodes well. I also love David Strathairn so yes, sign me up! Godzilla hits theaters in summer 2014.
I must have been hiding under a rock to not have known that Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series was being made into a television show. The first promo for the show has just hit the interwebs. I actually have not read this series yet so I can’t comment on much on it. Shows on Syfy are notoriously bad but this one looks like it may have potential. Anyone excited about this? Does it look faithful to the series? Bitten starts in Jan on Syfy. For more info, keep an eye out for updates at http://www.syfy.com/bitten.
The Weinstein Company just released the full theatrical trailer for the Vampire Academy movie. What do you guys think? It’s getting a lot of flack for looking too campy. Though I am still not sure I am sold on the overall tone of the movie, there’s no way I am not going to see it. I mean, I have seen way worse adaptations and I love VA, so I will be there opening weekend. Who else is coming with me?
I am a big fan of noir and am super excited about Mob City, Frank Darabont’s new LA noir series for TNT. Drew Struzan (of Indian Jones and Star Wars fame) recently created a new poster for Mob City. What can I say? The poster looks awesome and so does the show. Darabont has a good track record and I am really hoping that Mob City lives up to my expectations. P.S. – Simon Pegg is in this. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh! I cannot wait!
Hi, guys. Fox recently released the first trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past. I am really excited about this movie. X-Men was my favorite comic books series when I was a teenager. Days of Future past was a really big deal at the time and I am glad to see that it’s finally making its way into the X movies. This trailer feels very ominous and it’s really cool to see both generations of the X-Men cast. Bishop looks awesome and I can’t wait to see what new characters pop up. This one is not coming out until May… Read more »
I totally forgot about I, Frankenstein until I saw this trailer recently. My friends and I were just talked about how Aaron Eckhart is a good actor who seems to make bad movies. Unfortunately this doesn’t look like it’s going to be the exception. This is the same team that did Underworld, which I admit that I have a guilty fondness for. This looks like much the same except with Frankenstein and stone gargoyles instead of vampires and werewolves. But I love these types of crazy action movies so I will probably see this at some point. What do you… Read more »
I recently saw Jaws again on the big screen (thanks, Arclight!) and it is still awesome some 30 odd years later. I’d seen it a bunch of times on cable before but, seeing it in a theater really made me pay attention to it. It’s probably better than most of the giant special effects and star laden million dollar blockbusters that are put out today. Seriously, the acting is top notch (why did I never realize how funny Richard Dreyfuss was in this movie?) and the dialogue is really smart. There are a lot of really funny lines, too, which… Read more »
Thanks to my friend Bookyurt for posting this trailer recently. I had no idea that Jean Pierre Jeanet was coming out with another movie. It’s funny, too, because my friend and I had been talking about her upcoming trip to Paris and how she should try to go to the Amelie cafe. The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet looks to be very much in the vein of Amelie – quirky and uplifting. I don’t usually do 3D movies but I think Jeanet’s visual style might work really well in 3D so I may break my no 3D rule for it…. Read more »
So today I am going to talk a bit about one of my current obsessions. This past weekend my friend came over with her DVDs of Veronica Mars. I know, I know – where have I been on this time? The Veronica Mars train came and went and even funded a movie, and I still hadn’t seen it. I would say that my only excuse is that I am probably the worst TV watcher ever. While most people can plow through a season in a weekend or a week, it’ll take me months or even years to finish a show…. Read more »
