L.A. Comic Con (Comikaze) 2016 Recap

L.A. Comic Con (Comikaze) 2016 Recap

Hi, everyone! I know posts have been scarce lately and I am sorry about that but life is really just crazy at the moment. Even though this is a bit late, I wanted to post my recap of L.A. Comic Con (formerly Comikaze). Comikaze is a comics and pop culture event that takes place every year around Halloween. The con continues to grow each year with more exciting programming and special guests. This was my third year attending and I had a really great time. Below is a brief recap of what I saw and did during Comikaze 2016. The first “panel”… Read more »

Comic-Con 2016 Recap: Television

Comic-Con 2016 Recap: Television

Hello, dear readers! Well it’s been a couple of weeks since the insanity that is Comic-Con. I feel like it was all kind of a dream still but I am slowly getting back into real life. I had a really good con this year. It was another laid back year for me. I definitely had some panels and signings I wanted to get to but nothing I would be heartbroken about if missed. This year I focused on a lot of bookish and comics related panels with a few TV panels thrown in. I didn’t get to any of the… Read more »

2016 LA Times Festival of Books Recap

2016 LA Times Festival of Books Recap

Every year I look forward to the LA Times Festival of Books. A mecca for those who love to read, it’s an amazing event that boasts fantastic panels that covers poetry, romance, crime, young adult, cooking and everything in between. I really think that there is something for everyone at this festival. This year I was only able to go for one day (Sunday) but I made the most of it. By the end of the day we were pooped but very happy. Amazingly, I didn’t buy any books this year. There were a few that I was looking for,… Read more »

DC Essentials with Dan Didio and Jim Lee

DC Essentials with Dan Didio and Jim Lee

Last night I attended a really cool event at my local library. I follow artist/writer/publisher Jim Lee on Facebook and he posted about an event that he and DC Comics co-publisher Dan Didio would be attending on Wednesday and, lo and behold, it was at Buena Vista Library in Burbank, which is my local library. I wasn’t really sure what to expect at the event. The description of the event was pretty vague but as a longtime fan of Lee’s, I knew that it was an event that I could not miss. I arrived at the library about 30 minutes before… Read more »

The Really Long Comic-Con Recap Post

The Really Long Comic-Con Recap Post

Hi, everyone. It’s a little crazy to me that Comic-Con is over already. I feel like I anticipate it for most of the year and it’s so strange that it’s over. This is going to be a long recap post. Sorry, but it was a very busy 4 days. This year’s con was pretty relaxed (relatively speaking). There weren’t any signings I had to do or panels I would be heartbroken if I didn’t get in. I had a loose schedule and really just played everything by ear. I only made it into Hall H once this year. I am so not… Read more »

Ontario Teen Book Fest Recap

Ontario Teen Book Fest Recap

Hi, everyone. This post is a bit late. A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending the Ontario Teen Book Fest which is a local(ish) event held near me every year on Ontario, CA. It’s a really fun event that is always well organized and has great authors. They also give you lunch, which gives them extra points in my book. This isn’t going to be a real recap. It’s more of an excuse to post some of the pics that I took during the event. I hung out with my pals from The Reader’s Antidote and… Read more »

Long Beach Comic Con Recap

Long Beach Comic Con Recap

Hi, everyone. Apologies for the tardiness of this recap. I had a bunch of events all within he same two week period and I just got behind. This was the first year that I attended Long Beach Comic Con. I had definitely heard of it before but the timing just hadn’t worked out. However, this year I was able to make it to LBCC on Saturday. I haven’t been before but, from what I have heard, LBCC has really been beefing up their programming in the last couple of years. There were definitely some great artists and writers scheduled for… Read more »

Highlights from Comic-Con 2014

Highlights from Comic-Con 2014

Hi, everyone! I am back from San Diego. Part of me can’t believe that Comic Con is already over for this year. It was an intense 4.5 days but it was also a ton of fun and I can’t wait to go back next year. I hope to do some more detailed posts about some of the exciting things I saw and heard about at SDCC. However, I am leaving in a few days to go to Atlanta for a baby shower and my blogging time is limited. Before I jetted off again I wanted to post about a few of… Read more »

San Diego, Here I Come!

San Diego, Here I Come!

Hi, everyone. Just a really quick post to let you know that I will be in San Diego for a few days for Comic-Con. So things might be a bit quiet around here. I didn’t really schedule much and there will be no Stacked or Manicure Monday this coming week. Next weekend I am off to Atlanta for a baby shower, so yeah, lots of traveling for me. But hopefully this means I’ll get some reading time in. Comic-Con should be crazy as usual, though I think my schedule is a bit more open than it has been in recent… Read more »
