Review: Claire DeWitt and the City of the Dead by Sara Gran

Review: Claire DeWitt and the City of the Dead by Sara Gran

Well known district attorney Vic Willig has disappeared – assumed to have perished in the floods that devastated much of New Orleans. However, his nephew isn’t convinced that Vic perished in the flood and calls on detective Claire DeWitt to find out what happened to his missing uncle. Following the controversial methods of Jacques Silette in his book Détection, Claire has a knack for finding out what others want hidden. My big problem with this book is the main character, Claire Dewitt. She is the (self professed) best detective in the world but it’s really unclear why she or anyone else would think so.

Audiobook Review: The Black Echo by Michael Connolly

When a body is found in a drain pipe in the Mulholland Dam, Detective Harry Bosch knows it’s more than just the tragic fate of a homeless man. The victim is from someone from Harry’s past and the investigation leads him down a dark and winding road that will test him in more ways than one.I don’t usually read a series out of order but that’s what happened and I read Nine Dragons, book 15 in the series a couple of years ago. It had good points but I didn’t love it and put off reading more in the series until now.
