Books That Will Make You Swoon This Valentine’s Day
Hi, everyone! Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and, while I know a lot of people dislike the holiday, I am a big fan. Yes, it’s a big made up holiday but it’s a made up holiday that celebrates love. Whether you are in love or not, I think it’s a great opportunity to tell those around you that you appreciate them. It’s also a good time to show yourself some love. It’s really easy to forget ourselves in the hustle and bustle of everyday life so I say treat yo’self this Valentine’s Day, be it with a good meal, a good book, or just a nap. you deserve it.
To celebrate the day, I am sharing a few books I’ve read recently that I think are perfect for today. I’d love to know what some of your favorite swoon worthy reads are so let me know in the comments below.
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang – I think this made everyone’s best of lists last year and for good reason. This story about a shy woman with Asbergers and a male escort was unexpectedly sweet, charming, and steamy.
The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren – This is one of Christina Lauren’s more PG releases. There’s plenty of sexy time but it’s not nearly as descriptive as some of their other books. This might be good for those who haven’t really jumped into romance yet and want to ease their way into it. Full of the pair’s great writing and fantastic banter, this story of two enemies who are forced to go on vacation together and fall in love along the way will delight and entertain you. I recommend reading it on a Hawaiian vacation if you can.
The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julie Quinn – This is an oldie but a goodie that I re-read recently. It is the second book in the Bridgerton series and is one of my faves. It’s the perfect love/hate relationship that blossoms into true love. Anthony and Kate love to thwart one another in the most hilarious game of pall mall that has me chuckling every time. (Also, if you haven’t heard, the Bridgerton series is being turned into a Netflix series by Shonda Rhimes. So this is a great time to catch up on the series if you haven’t read it.
A Heart of Blood and Ashes by Milla Vane – Milla Vane is the pen name of Meljean Brook whose Iron Seas steampunk romance series I am a huge fan of. She wrote a short story several years back in the Night Shift anthology set in the same barbarian world that this new full length novel is set in. It’s a hard to describe genre as its not one that I am really familiar with. I believe that Vane calls is barbarian romance and it is set in a harsh world where clans and kingdoms are fighting for power. The book centers on a warrior, Maddek, intent on avenging his parents’ deaths and he takes the daughter of a rival kingdom hostage in order to exact his revenge. However, she’s no simpering princess and has been imprisoned by her father for years. They decide to work together to reach their mutual goal of her father’s death. but Maddek doesn’t trust her. It’s so hard to describe but it’s so engrossing and I loved the character of Yvenne, who has a warrior’s heart. I still need to write a full review for this but I highly recommend it.
Those are some of my romantic book recs for this Valentine’s Day. I know it can be a difficult holiday but I feel like that can change with your perspective on it. I am sending you all lots of love and chocolate kisses this Valentine’s Day. Let me know what some of your favorite romances are in the comments below.
