Uncovered (147): Riot of Storm and Smoke
Who says you can’t judge a book by its cover? While it’s not the only factor in picking up a book, a pretty cover doesn’t hurt. Uncovered is a weekly post where I show some cover love. Enjoy!
Hi, guys. It’s been a really long time since my last Uncovered post. I am not sure why this feature fell to the wayside but I am to get back into posting it regularly again. There are so many beautiful book covers out there and I love giving them some attention. This week’s cover squee goes out to Riot of Storm and Smoke by Jennifer Ellision. This is the second book in a YA fantasy series. This cover is extremely eye catching with the bright teal color scheme and ethereal feel. It’s another girl in a dress, which is not super original, but I can’t help liking it. The dress itself is beautiful, with the cool detailing on the sleeves and what appears to be some kind of a cape or other fabric piece coming off of the right shoulder. I really like the girl’s haircut as well. It’s short and a bit unruly which contrasts with the elegance of the dress. I see ships in the background which makes me think that there is some kind of escape or battle that’s going to happen. The title font is very cool as well. It’s stylized but not so much that it is unreadable or takes away from the other elements of the cover.
I think I need this book on my shelf. Has anyone read this series yet? I’d love to know what you think.
